"A visit to my doctor"

About: Greater Manchester

(as the patient),

I arrived at the Lees Medical Practice and logged in using the automated service and noticed the postcode was incorrect again. This had been changed previously with the surgery 4 times, my daughter couldn't get her medicine because of the error and I supposedly missed my echocardiogram because the appointment was sent to the wrong place. The postcode the surgery had on the system wasn't even a our previous one. It was clearly some kind of clerical error.

After a lot of waiting the receptionist printed off some documents and said I could register for all the family on patient UK and that way I could track all activity. Great finally the problem would be solved.

So I waited 40 minutes for my appointment and when I got to see the doctor I explained my symptoms and then mentioned about the echocardiogram follow up. He rudely told me he had a waiting room full of patients and can't deal with everything my appointment is for ten minutes and I will have to book another appointment even though this was 2 minutes into my appointment. I then told him about my pains in my arm to be told ' well that's the wrong side' I was made to feel like I was wasting his time.

Politely I explained how he had made me feel and that I wouldn't come to the surgery unless I was concerned. He mentioned again about running behind, to which I told him I wouldn't be allowed to speak to people the way he has spoken to me. I also asked him to track my history and stated that I only come in if there is a real issue. He agreed that I don't come in often and appolgised for being flippant (I hadn't said he was) the doctor then examined my heart and I am currently waiting to see a heart specialist.

I feel I need to express my views on here. One because my symptoms and diagnosis could have been missed if I'd have back down and two because there are people out there that would have backed down and not fought for what was right. He realised once I made my point but nobody should be treated the way I was today.
