"Hospital food"

About: Ninewells Hospital

(as the patient),

There has been press coverage recently about hospital food and it has not been complimentary.

I have been an inpatient twice in the last 6 months in Ninewells and found the food quite palatable, if you didn't feel like the food you ordered ( the day before) there was always a lighter cold dish or fruit to choose from. To balance my comments I was not impressed with the white breakfast roll, very hard, the brown roll was much better.

It is impossible to please everyone's taste more especially if you are unwell but I did think the pictures shown in the press were not a reflection of my experience and I wondered when they were taken, where they historical?

Dear Twin2,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding the meals you received in Ninewells Hospital. I will pass your comments onto the chefs. I take on board your comments about the quality of the rolls and from tomorrow we will be sending them to the wards in their packets instead which should keep them fresher. Hopefully this will solve the problem. I'm not sure about the pictures in the press or when they were taken but thank you again for your kind words.

Update posted by Twin2 (the patient)

As a postscript to my remarks re hospital food, I was with friends today having coffee, one of whom had been in Ninewells and without any prompting she voiced how good the food was the fish was "huge" at lunch time( must have been a Friday )and the macaroni and cheese was delicious.

Take heart two satisfied patients.
