"In my eyes everything. I was waiting ..."

About: St James's University Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

In my eyes everything. I was waiting for 45 minutes to be seen taken to a ward where i had some tests done and then moved to the opposite ward. To say it was disgusting is an understatement there was bloodstains and smears on the floor. i was left in the little cubicle for 5 or so hours before i was moved to the opposite side of the building. I arrived at the hospital at 3am with suspected appendicitus i was waiting for 6 hours to get pain relief, it took the doctor til 9 am to finally see me. I was told time and time again that i would be having a scan that day but then they kept moving it to 2 days later. I was scared of hospitals and they did nothing to reassure me instead they kicked my cousin out until visiting hours. The food was horrible in the end i only had a little bit of ice cream. by the time it came to 3pm i had had enough and finally discharged myself to their displeasure. St James has a lot of room for improvement and i can honestly say since my stay there my phobia of hospitals has worsened to a degree where i cannot even visit relatives in hospital.

Anything else?

I was referred for the scan they had promised me two weeks after my stay in hospital. I went for the scan and was told that within the next week my scan results would be passed onto my gp. Months later when i actually had to see my gp he confirmed that they had not sent the report to him forcing me to go over what treatment i had and so on when the whole experience had thoroughly effected me in a negative way. As of yet my gp still hasnt recieved my scan results and its all hear say to what was actually wrong with me. St James is a hospital i would rather never set foot in again especially for treatment and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
