"Fantastic service"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

My husband broke his leg (tib and fib) two days ago in Italy and was sent home in an open cast.

I took him to A&E when we got back yesterday and within an hour and a half he'd been triaged, X-rayed, checked over, give more painkillers and give an appointment to see a consultant today, all on a Sunday evening.

Today we were there two and a half hours.

He saw the consultant surgeon who explained why he didn't think surgery was the best treatment as it was a fairly simple break without much displacement.

The open cast was cut off and replaced with a very fetching two tone fibreglass cast, re-x-rayed to make sure the bones hadn't moved, back to the consultant for instructions and to allow us to ask questions and given a prescription for more anti-DVT injections.

The most time consuming part was waiting for the prescription to be issued (30 mins) but it gave us time for a coffee.

You hear lots about bad experiences in the NHS but you could not fault this service, staff kind and helpful, hospital clean and all pretty quick.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I am pleased to hear your husband was well attended to and the care received was of the high standard we aim to deliver. It is lovely to read positive feedback from our patients and families; I will make sure your comments are passed onto the department.

Kind Regards
