3 hours wait for an ambulance, 2 hours wait to see a doctor to then be told they were waiting for a bed on a ward and could give no indication of the waiting time. So after arriving at A&E at 4.45pm, my father was transferred to an Assessment Unit at 11.30pm to then be told he would be assessed by another doctor but this would be an approx. wait of another 2 hours!!
When we asked why another doctor had to see him as one had already seen him in A&E we were told that the staff in A&E don't care! To make things worse they also didn't have a pillow for my father, he had to use a blanket rolled up. We were told that they didn't have any pillows left and he would not get one until he was on a ward which would be the next day.
Days later on the ward, I checked my fathers notes to read that they had suspected a stroke. When I asked the nurse I was told it was a mistake as they scribbled it out!
My father was also waiting for a stomach scan for which he had to be nil by mouth, so for days he went without food, only for my mother to receive a letter at home detailing an appointment as a outpatient for later that month! So basically he has been starved for 3 days for no reason.
They hospital will be receiving a letter of complaint!!!
"A Complete joke!"
