"Poor reception but great care from the..."

About: Central Middlesex Hospital

I attended for a gastroscopy. Initially rather confused by the large building which felt to me clinical and cold, not being sure where to wait and no receptionist. However I took a seat in the area which signs seemed to indicate would be the right one and ten minutes after my appointment time I was called by a member of the endoscopy team. From that moment on I had excellent care. I was asked some initial questions and had my blood pressure taken before the endoscopist introduced themself. They took time to understand why I was there and put me at my ease. Then a team of three were present during the endoscopy itself - being careful, gentle and encouraging during a not very pleasant procedure (I had opted for just the throat spray, not sedation). Then the results were explained to me, I received a printout of the report and after a little while was able to leave. Really great care - once I had been picked up by the team who were treating me.
