"My bad review seems to have disapeared so here..."

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

On 19th Nov. 2015 I went to Louth hospital with breathing difficulties and received immediate attention with treatment from a friendly doctor and advice about what to do next. After my breathing had settled down I was sent via urgent ambulance to Grimsby hospital where I joined a line of beds in the corridor until a room came available (Ambulance staff couldn’t hand me over until I was in a consulting room) and that’s where my trouble began. I was wheeled to a room where usual blood pressure & heart rate was taken and that was it, for about 2 hours. I was then moved from room 6 to room 12 where I lay for another 4 hours. I wasn’t asked if I wanted a drink or anything and I received no treatment to ease my breathing.

After around 6 hours of nothing someone introduced themself as a doctor and spoke to me as they were looking through the window as if I was an inconvenience and as I replied to their questions they were still preoccupied looking elsewhere. The doctor hadn’t a clue and advised me I’d be staying in the night to see medical staff about my heart condition and medication. When I asked about something to ease my breathing they replied (it’s accident & emergency here, we only do what we have to save lives). In a line of doctors, I’d pick this doctor out as a none starter.

Worried about the situation I asked for a canuler to be removed and discharged myself about 9:15pm really believing that Grimsby Hospital was a dangerous place to be. I went looking for a drink of water, after about 7 hours without a drink and was told at reception that the vending machines are available, what? I couldn’t believe I couldn’t get a drink of water, I went into the toilets and scooped water from the tap to drink, eventually the receptionist fetched me a drink of water and hospital transport took me back to Louth hospital where my car had been left.

If this is what we are to rely on then god help anyone needing treatment at Grimsby Hospital. It appeared to me to be staff heavy with nobody actually doing anything. What an experience. Pure and simple a very bad hospital to need. Simply down to bad management. Give me Louth or Doncaster anytime over Grimsby.
