"absolutely disgusted"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

As i an writing this (at 3.30pm on 10/12/15) my mum is somewhere in the hospital, she went in to ward 40 at 7am, i was told at 11.50am (i rang them) that mum had gone to theatre at 11.30, since then i know nothing, she has left ward 40 so not their responsibilty and has not yet got to ward 34 so not their responsibility. Apparently she is still in recovery (but i cant speak to them) until there is a bed in ward 34, will that be before visiting? They don't know! Will that be tonight? They don't know! How is my mum? They cant tell me until she gets onto the ward! Is she awake? They can tell me until she goesto the ward! So has she had her op, i dont know, how is she, i dont know, will anyone get to see her tonight, i dont know. Will i be taking this matter further? Too bloody right i will. Absolutely disgusting and ridiculous

We apologise for the frustration caused. It is usual practice to care for post operative patients in the recovery area until a bed in the base ward becomes available. This ensures that patients are closely monitored, and receive the care the need in the immediate post op period. There can be patient flow issues which cause delays in bed allocation and the Trust works hard to minimise the effects of this.
