"Late cancellation"

I had an appointment scheduled today at 3.15pm. I received a phone call at 1.50pm, just as I was about to leave home, to say that the appointment was cancelled as the consultant had decided not to see any new patients and a new appointment can't be rescheduled as they don't have a new consultant yet. According to the person who called me I should have been called several days ago.

So, I booked an afternoon off work, paid a childminder to collect my children from school and got 1.5 hours notice to cancel with no timeline to reschedule an appointment I've waited a month for.

VERY POOR SERVICE!

Dear Patient

I am sorry that we cancelled your appointment at late notice. The Consultant you were due to see is indeed not seeing any new patients and will be leaving us in the near future, we should not therefor have made your appointment for today. We do have other Hand Surgeons and I’m pleased to say we have two additional Hand surgeons joining us in the near future, I will ensure we arrange you an appointment as soon as possible.

Please accept my most sincere apologies for the inconvenience. I would be more than happy to reimburse you for the costs of the Childminder if you wish to contact me directly.
