"Ward 9Y - treatment of elders"

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital

My 89 year old mother attended for an eye operation on the 24 Nov. She is registered blind and has other serious complications which required to have a room with bathroom close by and lights left on all night. Following the operation, which was extremely painful and distressing, she was asleep in her bed when at 11:30 pm staff came in to evict her from her bed.

Despite her protests and please to remain she was moved out. Imagine the emotional and physical distress this caused - she was in tears. An 89 year old woman with serious complications.

What a callous attitude by those responsible for bed management.

On the positive side, her treatment by the nursing and assistant staff was very good.
