I went to St Georges A&E in December 2013 as a result of an assault. It was found that I had a broken jaw and I needed surgery on it (fitting a metal plate to hold it in place and removal of wisdom tooth next to the injury to prevent infection).
A&E visit took long and consisted mostly of waiting to be seen (nothing usual there, so I'm not complaining), but I was treated very well throughout and kept informed on my care.
I had to stay two nights in the hospital for the surgery. It was a very busy time right before Christmas where hospital staff was doing everything in their power to care for and discharge as many patients home for Christmas as possible (I want home on Christmas Eve) because of that there were numerous and perfectly understandable delays.
All the hospital staff who dealt with me was very polite and helpful at all times. Everyone from porters, through nursing staff, radiologist, surgeons etc. I received the best care I could help for. My pain was managed well, my needs were met and my surgery and subsequent recovery went perfectly well. My stay in St Georges Hospital was far better than I expected and all the staff too great care to make this difficult time as comfortable as only possible.
Full recovery took far longer than I initially expected (but then I never had any bones broken, especially jaw!) but after-care was thoroughly explained to me, the follow up appointments were very pleasant and even the scars from cuts on my face are now completely invisible.
I could not thank the staff at St Georges enough. I rate 5 stars and beyond!
