"Felt reassured"

About: Dorset County Hospital

Had two procedures done within a few days of each other. Colonoscopy first and then a gastroscopy. The whole team seemed very efficient, answered my questions, and reassured me until I felt confident enough to go ahead and have my gastroscopy without sedation. It really was not the nightmare I had expected as I felt I was in safe hands with the staff in attendance telling me what to do and when, what happens next, etc. and just being there for me. The result and the aftercare were explained clearly to me also. The waiting room I felt was a little claustrophobic, being small and having chairs facing people opposite, which I really don't like, but otherwise the whole unit felt spacious and airy and had a clean appearance. The ladies' changing room was nice too, looked clean, well lit, and plenty of room. The only real bugbear was not being able to park in the hospital carpark which added to the stress of getting there on time - amazingly the 10 minute brisk walk to get there from where we found a parking place in a side street did not raise my blood pressure! ;)
