"A&E department on a Monday afternoon"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

I suffer from chronic diverticular disease. Had bad abdo pain. I have had such bad treatment at Watford General Hospital and I have been there over 7 times this year and vowed never to return there again. Drs and staff have no knowledge of diverticular disease and what signs to look out for.I was in so much abdo pain and discomfort I then travelled 2 hrs by train to King's College hosp A&E. Staff were very friendly and caring. I was seen by triage nurse in under an hour. Then saw the Dr who had knowledge of diverticular and ordered bloods. After about 3 hrs blood results came back. Dr said I didn't need IV antibiotics but prescribed oral antibiotics for 7 days. I was so relieved that the Dr new about my illness becuase in the past I was always sent home with instructions to see my Gp. This is the first time that a Dr decided to try antibiotics. I'm on day 6 now and I feel so much better for the first in over a year! I am so thankful to the Dr for saving my life. And now I know that antibiotics do help. I have asked my Gp to refer me to King's College hosp diverticular department.

Although its 2 hrs away this is the hospital I will be travelling to.
