"Very pleasantly surprised"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with my recent experience in St. George's Hospital. After so many bad reviews seen on the NHS website regarding various GP practices and hospitals and testimonies from friends I must say I wasn't expecting a good experience at all. Therefore the experience I had came as a complete surprise.

I went in around 13:00 with a minor injury - hand ligament injury. I was processed at the initial stage in a matter of minutes and placed in a queue, while my personal details were updated in NHS database at the reception. I did have to wait 2 hrs to receive the treatment but let's not forget I wasn't a priority, my life was not in danger and by the time I arrived at the hospital there were at least 100 patients in front of me. Probably that's where many complaints are coming from - people just don't take into consideration that there is a proper reason for waiting, there is a way a hospital is managed. Of course the most important thing for a hospital is the preservation of life. And I can say very confidently that I could see that from the very beginning. Everything was well organised, every staff I came in contact with was very helping, professional and caring. Although it was very busy as you can imagine an A&E is, this didn't stop the staff from smiling and giving me a proper care.

I understand that sometimes people have genuine bad experience with hospitals but I would take most complaints regarding St. George's with a pinch of salt after the experience I had.
