"Some problems in the care of my dad"

My dad had a stroke and was unable to communicate well. His buzzer was constantly placed in its holder on the wall where he could not reach it.

When he did buzz for help he could wait more than an hour and due to this he was classed as grossly incontinent rather than has accidents because no-one answers his buzzer.

He was left jugs of water on his table and given biscuits when his diet excluded unthickened liquids and biscuits. When we walked passed nurses in the corridor they would avert their eyes so not to have to say hello or answer a question. A senior nurse also does this so the nurses are only doing what they see their senior doing.

An ATO helped a patient to the toilet then continued serving the patients tea. No hand hygiene was used after helping the patient back to his bed.
