After moving to Sheffield I registered with a GP to get a referral to see an orthopaedic consultant as I've had some complications following ankle surgery. My GP was happy to make a referral. Two weeks following I still had no update on an appointment and contacted my GP, who found out that there had been an issue with my referral, but promised me it had now been sent and flagged as urgent. I received a hospital appointment for the and was so relieved to finally be getting somewhere! I then received a phone call to say that because my GP had not used the right system and my appointment was being taken away from me. It was then up to me to contact my GP and ask them to make ANOTHER referral. I've now received a date (the 30th of the same month) so that I can have a phone consultation with a doctor who has never seen me for them to decide what is the best option for me. It just seems to lack common sense, I'm 23 years old and struggle to walk on some days, and I'm constantly being passed from pillar to post. I wonder if I will ever get an appointment!
