"Discharged in a taxi"

About: Borders General Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (Ward 9)

(as a friend),

My friend was discharged from Borders General Hospital tonight in a taxi rather than ambulance. She had to hop up a long drive way then up 3 steps on her bruised leg and had to put weight on her broken leg. Prior to discharge I discussed my friends needs with OT staff and asked her to be brought to my house by ambulance and a chair was necessary. Proper assessment was not completed and the staff member I spoke to on the ward agreed that the taxi should not have been used.

Dear Moonma, I am concerned to hear that your friends discharge arrangements were inappropriate. Please accept my apologies for any upset caused.

We would be more than happy to discuss this further if your friend would like to contact Susan Cowe on 01896 826719.
