"Kind staff and a remarkably pain free experience."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

I had an apicectomy as a day case. The staff were very kind and reassuring, and took time to answer my questions and as far as I know, the operation went fine and I would like to thank everyone involved in my care.I had conscious sedation, which took all the stress out of the procedure. I hardly felt the needle go in and the next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room; in fact I can't remember the procedure at all. Although I was given a printed booklet with aftercare instructions and spoke to the nurse afterwards, the effects of the drugs meant that I can't remember what was said to me then, although I am told that I sounded lucid, so I would suggest that any instructions specific to the patient, e.g whether stitches need taking out later, are written on the booklet itself. The waiting area was fine, but very hot and airless. There was a bit of a wait because of a problem with a light, but we were kept informed and it was sorted out quickly.

The reason I only gave the cleanliness four stars was that the loo had a paper sticker with manufacturers' cleaning instructions still on it which didn't seem very hygienic to me, but nothing really to complain about. Because I was sedated, I don't really know exactly what was done in the end; perhaps my dentist will be able to tell me when I next go, although I hope that won't be for some time. Anyway, thank you again.
