Superb care during my induction of my first baby on the Cley ward and the delivery suite. Down to earth midwife, made my difficult delivery far easier with their friendliness and support for me and my birthing partners. The doctors who helped with my forceps delivery and subsequent tear were highly professional and made a traumatic time easier by constantly explaining what was going on/had happened.
Sadly my excellent care ended there and I found the care on Blakeney very poor. I overheard conversations about my health via phone calls or members of staff but wasn't told anything officially adding to my stress post delivery.
There was very little emotional support considering a ward of hormonal women and many women felt let down by the staff. After being told at 8am I would be discharged I was still waiting at ten at night and had ran out of baby formula (they didn't stock the brand we were using). Staff told me I was only upset because of my hormones and one member of staff remarked they would also like to go home but can't. I left hospital late at night with a newborn baby who already had a cold. I found it to be a disappointing end to a week of excellent care and support.
