I had a THR on the 24th September.
The lead up to my operation was excellent and pre op blood tests showed low sodium level which was rectified before my operation.
My admission went very smoothly and was visited on the ward D by Specialist Nurse and anaesthetist who explained the different types of anaesthetic available. I chose a Spinal Block and was very happy with this choice.
My recovery on Ward 5 went very well to start with but then my blood test showed low Haemoglobin level and I had to have a blood transfusion which caused a problem with my blood pressure. This kept me in the hospital for a few extra days. The day staff on Ward 5 were fantastic. Everyone from doctors nurses, domestic and kitchen staff were very helpful, and were always there to answer any queries.
However one or two of the night staff need to be less loud and noisy and a bit more attentive.
I am recovering well at home now and can do most things around the house.
Still taking paracetemol during the day, but my mobility is improving each day. Four weeks on and I am very pleased with my progress and would recommend this hospital without hesitation. Thank you to everyone involved in my care.
