I recently became a patient in June and from the moment I stepped through the doors although I was scared stiff I found everyone was wonderful and it was not the scary place I had imagined it to be.

I was under the care of a Consultant and doctor who are both my hero'.

They are so caring, kind and gentle and although so very busy always have time to put your mind at rest. They work such long hours doing such delicate operations they will never know how much admiration they gain from so many thankful women. I owe my life to them.

I have just been back for my first 3 monthly check-up and saw them both in the out-patients department.

I am OK and so very grateful to them and their wonderful team.

On my pre-op meeting I was told told me they would operate the next day if I was prepared to wait until they had a bed ready. The next day I saw them working in the morning and they came to see me at around 4pm to say a bed was now ready and that it was all going ahead.

They took time to explain things to me and answer any questions I had.

I had total faith in them.

At 10.30pm they both came to my bedside with a large team to see how I was after my operation.

They must have been working for over 15 hours but showed no signs of tiredness and were just concerned about me, putting my mind at rest that everything had gone very well.

The next morning whilst eating my breakfast I saw the doctor again as they was checking on patients in the wards (how much sleep do they need).

They are just so amazing and I don't think they are even aware at how much patients are in awe of them.

They seem to float around in the hospital just like angels touching everyone they meet and healing them. I am so grateful for their care and will always now support the work at the Royal Marsden for the rest of my life.
