"Real compassion from GP at Old Henry Street Surgery, Leigh"

About: Ashton, Leigh and Wigan PCT

(as the patient),

This is both a thank you and a suggestion.

I am not sure if the recent changes to the services offered at our GP practice is something related to the surgery or the new GP. Either way I would like to say thank you to HOW my mother was treated. The GP concerned was extremely patient focused and showed real compassion.

Rather than ask my mother to keep coming back to surgery, he called her at home. Being elderly it really made a difference and the time he took to discuss things was just lovely. He paid attention to what she was saying and having someone who listens is very reassuring these days.

If this is a new service then I think its great but equally, a communication would help eliminate unnecessary worry. Both my mother and I are not used to a GP ringing us at home and our first reaction was to panic. It did take some getting used to and so a communication about this improvement would reassure people this is an improvement rather than an exception.

Thank you
