"Day Surgery"

I attended the hospital today as a day case. This is the fourth procedure I have had carried out by the same surgeon and, as always, the surgeon and the team were fantastic. My surgeon has gone out of their way in the last 18 months to help me and it is very much appreciated.

We were greeted this morning at the Surgical Admissions Unit and once I was in my designated room my wife commented on how friendly and welcoming the member of staff was on the reception desk. Next I met another member of staff who, again, was friendly and put me at ease. It was nice to meet the Anaesthetist who explained very clearly what would be happening in a way that wasn't rushed.

I don't know the name of the member of staff who escorted me to the operating theatre but they were friendly and engaged me in conversation whilst the team were having their briefing.

This again made me feel relaxed as oppose to spending those few minutes thinking about what lay ahead.

As always the Recovery Team were great, some recognised me from previous visits and do a very good job.

It was my first ever experience of being cared for by the day surgery team whilst I was recovering. I just wanted to say what a breath of fresh air every member of staff in the day surgery recovery team were. They were friendly, caring and you could tell that the job they were doing matters to them. I say this because of previous bad experiences whilst being an inpatient at Torbay with the nursing staff on certain wards.

I have been so impressed with my visit today which is why I felt the need to fill in this feedback form which is something I wouldn't normally do. Just every department today strengthened my faith in the good work I know is carried out at Torbay Hospital.
