I was referred to the burns unit for skin grafts following treatment for necrotising faciitis, a flesh eating bug that left my thighs and lower abdomen requiring reconstruction. Right from the start the staff made me feel reassured and completely confident that I was in good hands. Every aspect of my care was discussed with me and the staff really listen, treat you as an individual and their professionalism is second to none. Communication between the doctors, surgeons, nurses, dieticians and physiotherapists is excellent. The care I received was so good I didn't want to leave, and I never thought I'd say that about a hospital! They made a long hospital stay not just tolerable, but actually enjoyable. They've done a wonderful job of my skin grafts which are healing well. I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who treated me, they are amazing and made my local hospital look dismal in comparison. NHS chiefs should take note, their reputation as a centre of excellence is well deserved and all hospitals should be run this way.
"This is how all hospitals should be run."
