About: Scunthorpe General Hospital Scunthorpe General Hospital Scunthorpe DN15 7BH
I have been having to visit the Gynaecology unit over the past few months. The first time I visited, the receptionist ended up losing my file. After they managed to find it we sorted out all the information the hospital needed, such as name and address. I had no problems with this, and even made sure my address was correct before I left the hospital. I then got a letter posted through my door last month saying that I needed to be back at the hospital. The letter said nothing about why I had to be back at the hospital (baring in mind I was still waiting to have an ultrasound done as well as a blood test).
As I enter gynaecology, I ask the receptionist why I was there as the letter never indicated anything. I then get told it was for a check up. I explained to the receptionist that I was confused as there was nothing to check up on. The receptionist then tells me that it's a check up for my tests. I explained that I have not received anything about tests over the previous 6 months, so as far as I was concerned, I was not needed in hospital that day. The receptionist started to try and argue with me that I should be received a letter, and started getting rather cheeky with their comments. After reviewing my address again, it turns out that they had the address wrong, even though I had rectified this 3 times both over the phone and in person. Knowing all this, this ended up infuriating my parents as I had got a letter posted to the correct address for the check up, so how hadn't I received the test letters to the same address. My dad then explained that this had been a waste of his time as he had to take the day off work to bring me to the hospital. The receptionist then began to argue. I can no longer trust the Unit when it comes to clerical errors and I can no longer trust the staff when it comes to rectifying anything or admitting they have made a mistake.
