I was referred by my consultant at York for a capsule endoscopy on the 28th April 2015, in the absence of any correspondence from Scarborough I have rang my consultants secretary twice to ask for an update and indication of the waiting list.
The last indication was five weeks, which indicated that they would finally get their act together by week ending the 12th September.... I'm not holding my breath when they don't even confirm that you're on the waiting list. Scarborough don't seem to believe in courtesy, and acknowledgements are obviously not on the agenda irrespective of the need to put a patients mind at rest.
This hospital has always had a terrible reputation, and now I can see why when they don't tell you anything. Personally I'd rather have my capsule endoscopy at Hull or Leeds.
I have never experienced in any of the trusts where I have lived a lack of information and while I appreciate the NHS is under pressure and resources are finite if York can contact you in the space of 24 hours and do a gastroscopy and colonoscopy within 2 weeks of referral it shouldn't take Scarborough in excess of 16 weeks to actually wite a letter acknowledging that you exist and better still confirm the date of a capsule endoscopy. All people want is a little information and not limbo.
As for the question... When did you visit this hospital and which department - you can't answer this question if your still waiting to walk through the door of a unit that is not listed - come NHS get your act together
"16 weeks and counting"
