Staff being more aware and respectful of my mother-in-laws feelings & upset. Father in law ready for discharge - staff member's comments "you will have to manage to get him home, you brought him in"
Bearing in mind he went in for planned treatment but whilst in, has had a fall!!
Mother in law has a serious respiratory condition and struggles at the best of times.
When she commented that her son was at work and she would not manage alone she was again told she would have to wait for her son to get home then!
Whatever happened to being kind and decent and why are these people in the medical, so called caring profession.
All it would have took would have been a few kind re-assuring words and possibly a bit of advice about accessing the medical transport or taxis that are accessible to wheelchairs.
There isn't a day goes by now where a 'horror' story doesn't unfold about hospital.
Here is someone who fufills all of her duties caring day in day out, managing the best she can. Not expecting that anyone should help!
I think the whole system is shocking and appalling. It requires someone decent in charge and much more strict rules which ensure staff have procedures to adhere to. We will certainly be taking this further and this is due to the fact that the family have suffered on previous occasions at the hands of the hospital/staff.
It is so very sad to have to see someone you care for in the hospital, to then have to deal with ignorance and poor care....it is just too much.
