"Hip Replacement"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

I have just returned home from having my right hip replaced. I met the Consultant at my first consultation and subsequently was seen by another surgeon who also performed the operation. Their compassion and expertise cannot be faulted. I am already feeling so much better than before the operation and it has only been 6 days. The pre-op care was also very good. My only slight complaint was that I had to phone the orthopaedic admissions team a couple times as I was desperate to receive the necessary paperwork before I took my mother away for a few days before the date I had been verbally given for the op. I eventually phoned again on the day before we went away and was fortunate to speak to someone who somehow managed to get everything sent to me before we left the next morning. From feeling anxious I was relieved. So appreciated.

When I was admitted tp Ward D5 until I left 3 days later all the staff who helped me were lovely:kKind, friendly and professional. I am so grateful to you all and to the NHS. Thank you.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your positive feedback regarding your experiences in the Orthopaedic Department.

I was sorry to read that you had a problem getting through to the admissions team, but glad that this was sorted to your satisfaction.

Please be assured that your comments have been shared with the Teams involved.

I am pleased to note that all went well with your surgery and that you are making a good recovery, may I take this opportunity to wish you well for the future.

Should you ever need to share your views with us direct, good or bad, then please contact our PALS Team on PHT.PALS@porthosp.nhs.uk who will be happy to help and advise.

Kind regards.

Debbie
