"Double Mastectomy and Reconstruction"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

I was refered to the hospital following a 3rd breast cancer diagnosis for double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction.I was fairly optimistic about the outcome, the surgeon was amazing and I would give them10/10 for bedside manner, professionalism, commitment to the patient and results. So why the 1 star rating?Despite being in dreadful pain I was discharged after 2 overnight stays. I was not visited by a doctor or even a snr nurse the decision was made without my involvement. I actually heard the ward sister telling the nurses that I was to be discharged because they wanted the beds.I went home without my pain meds because they werent ready.

I had an infection and despite surgeons instructions was not admited back to the ward. This lead to reconstruction failure and 2 emergency operations. I wasnt visited by a district nurse. Lack of support following operations is appalling I was turned out of hospital an hr after the 1st emergency op and next day for the 2nd. Dreadful after care - well no aftercare. I now face more surgery. I was told that because I was young and healthy they liked to discharge next day.... er I had 3 breast cancers, 30 rounds radiotheapy, 12 rounds chemo, oophorectomy, 18 targeted chemo and joint pain because of treatment - I wouldnt class myself as healthy
