I take my son to ‘Let’s explore’ every Thursday afternoon. He has recently started school and is reluctant to go – the only way I can get him there is to promise to take him to the Explore play group in the afternoon. It’s an absolute god send.
All the staff make this a special play group, the activities they put out and how they bring out the best in the children. My son can be out of sorts when he gets there but they always manage to get him into a much better frame of mind.
I don’t know what I would have done without Sure Start. They were recommended to me by my health visitor when I first moved into the area. At that time I didn’t know anyone and was a bit depressed. I knew I had to go out to stop becoming isolated.
When I first started to come with my eldest son there were more groups and I has had a really positive impact on my life. Through Sure start I have gained confidence, gained skills through ‘Help with English’, got a job and overcome my depression.
If I could change anything I would ask for more classes, more play groups.
