"where do i start nurses listning ..."

About: Royal Derby Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

where do i start nurses listning to patients beds being cleaned and nurses helping patients more

Anything else?

my partner was in this hospital for spinal surgery day two he was still unable to move but when the food was brought they dumped it down on the table and left they didnt pull the table round knowinghe could move he had to eat the food through the bars on the bed, he than was having pains in his hand due to the needle in it i went out and asked for help and the nurse said shed come and help ten minuets later i went back out to get her and she was just having a natter with other nurses than he had a spill with the urine bottles i went and asked for help and she asked another nurse to get the neddle out of his hand and change the bed and neither were done in the end the first nurse ended up having to do it he than had dressing put on his wound and told a member of staff it was burning, they said they would see to it in which they didnt. Today he had the dressing changed and all round the wound are massive water blisters and if only the staff had listened he wouldnt be suffering anymore pain than he should be.

This hospital may be big and clean butit doesnt make up for the disgraceful staff who would rather stand around talking than listning and caring for their patients that they are paid to do the service is disgusting

Thank you for your feedback. Having read your posting we would very much appreciate it if you could contact Kerry Pape, Assistant Director of Nursing (Patient Experience), on 01332 787095, or through PALS on 785156, to discuss your concerns about the apparent lack of basic nursing care that your partner has experienced. Please be assured your concerns will be taken seriously.
