I was diagnosed with Asperger’s in 2010, the clinic I visited told me I was high functioning and should be grateful and read books for info. A friend helped contact the advocate service. I had two advocates during my time with the service.

They both listened to me and helped me to get my anxiety and depression under control. They supported me and gave unconditional support, understanding and spoke from the heart. They were familiar with Asperger’s but did research and showed willingness to enter my world. The advocate service helped me understand my disability rights and helped me to be referred for EMDR therapy.
