On the 15th June 2015 I was admitted to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary following a cycling accident where I badly broke my leg along with various other injuries. The care I received from the moment I was admitted was fantastic. On the whole I found all the staff to be polite, friendly and professional whilst keeping me informed at all times. The main part of my stay was on ward 20 where I spent a week recovering from an x- frame operation before being transferred to Leeds. I found the ward to be light and airy and I was fortunate to be next to the window. The team on that ward deserve recognition for their hard work and their positive approach. I was bed bound for the full week and I was treated with respect and dignity. All the nurses were attentive from the student nurses up to the ward sisters and they all showed compassion even down to one of them cleaning the iodine off my toes because I couldn't reach (I didn't need to ask either, they just did it!). Most of the nurses attempted to make time to talk to me even though they were clearly very busy (overworked and under funded in my opinion) and they helped to keep my spirits up during a painful and embarrassing week (never thought I would need a nurse to clean me at the age of 42!). Even when they were getting rid of me to Leeds they kept me informed and ensured I was ready to be transferred and that none of my belongings or medication was left behind. The sister even walked with me to the ward exit and wished me luck for my next operation and recovery. Thank you ward 20, keep up the good work!
"Thank You Ward 20"
