"Post Operative Care"
About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital The Royal Liverpool University Hospital Liverpool L7 8XP
Husband initially in POCCU, which I cannot fault. They were exemplary and genuinely very kind and caring. He should have transferred to HDU from there but was sent to a general ward, where his care went down hill. The level of cleanliness of the ward (5B) was extremely poor. Dirty laundry being left on chairs all day. His used water from having a wash stayed there from morning until night until another visitor dealt with it because he needed the chair. The ward was clearly very short staffed and my husband waited almost an hour to his his epidural and morphine replaced. Leaving him in extreme pain. That was while I was there all day to chase these things. I've been there all day every day looking after his care, which I know has been appreciated by the nurses. Today an auxiliary told me to leave because I wasn't allowed to stay, even though everybody knows I've been caring for my husband. I've been very quiet and I've not disturbed anybody. I feel extremely concerned now that he'll not be getting the care he was receiving whilst I was supporting. I'd been told when he was first moved to this ward that I could help with his care.
