"Ward 15a for a total right replacement"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

I was admitted into BVH on the 18th July for a total right replacement and I must say throughout the whole experience I was treated with respect, empathy and professionalism from very friendly staff. From the reassurances by the theatre staff about an epidural (as I've never had one let alone had major surgery under this form of anaesthetic) to the way all the nursing staff put me at ease after my procedure. The nursing staff on the ward could not do enough for me and I have to thank them as the compassion and patience they showed whilst understanding my frustration was faultless as I'm a very independent professional person in my normal everyday life. I would recommend anyone who has concerns regarding surgery to read these reviews beforehand as I'm sure they will erase any concerns that they may have about their impending surgery. Thank you again theatre staff and nursing staff from ward 15a.

Response from Andrew Heath, Lead in Patient Experience & Engagement, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you taking the time to leave feedback on your recent experience in our theatres and Ward 15a.

I am really pleased to hear that the teams were able to ensure that your experience was positive. The attitude and approach of our Staff is critical to delivering quality care and I am pleased that they made such an excellent impression on you. All our Staff actively promote the 6 Cs (Care, Compassion, Courage, Communication, Commitment, Competence) and it is always appreciated when this is recognized.

Thank you once more for your positive comments and I wish you well on your continued recovery.

Andrew
