"I don't want to put up and shut up"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology Crosshouse Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I had this procedure in October, pain free I might add. It did not work. Then after speaking to my consultant telling him it did not work I was then referred to have open colsuspention. This procedure was done in March it also did not work! I met my consultant with my husband in March devastated that within the week I knew this also had not worked! We were reassured that my case would be presented to Aprils Multi Disciplinary Meeting. However this did not happen till July the 3rd. I did as promised have a phone call from the consultant of the outcome! An appointment within the week for urodynamics yet again this has not happened! I phoned on Tuesday to speak to the consultant, no return phone call. I have to say that the very nature of my problem, as am sure a lot of women have it, takes a great deal of courage to approach your GP. Usually 4 years after the problem has presented itself.

My relationship with my husband has suffered considerably as their is no spontaneous relations unless I shower before hand taking away any spontaneous from our marriage.

In my job I have seen and witnessed a huge amount of women that simply put up and shut up with "the Problem" I have to say that I could also do the same.

However I don't want to put up and shut up I would love to have a relationship with with my husband that did not revolve around showering! !

Dear Daisyduke12,

I know it is has been some time since you posted and I am sorry this is still unresolved for you. I have spoken with your consultant and I believe he was aiming to speak to you direct and if he has not been in touch with you so far, he definitely will be.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Update posted by Daisyduke12 (the patient)

Your response since my post is astoundingly 4 weeks late! A bit like my complaint / moan about my consultant whose response was also 4weeks late!

However the consultants nurse has been sympathetic and moving things forward.

If it takes so long for you to reply to the problem encountered you are setting a very bad example to the people you are supposed to monitor

Dear Daisyduke12,

I understand why you may feel that way and I am sorry that you do. However, my delayed response to you was at the request of your clinician and it was his wish that he spoke to you direct. He was arranging things for your ongoing care, these of which have taken place I believe e.g. to get your speedy appointment with the nurse. I can advise you that your Consultant will return next week and he will be in a position to contact you to take forward the next part of your care.

I am sorry you feel it sets a bad example but a great deal of communication does take place in the background, which has been happening in your case. I hope this reassures you that you were not ignored, nor forgotten.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Dear Daisyduke12,

I am sorry there appeared to be delays over the summer holidays but I am pleased that we managed to speak and as you know, the appointment for your treatment with the specialist nurse should be in the next two or three weeks. You will receive the details shortly.
