"Maternity experience"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I recently had a very positive experience in the maternity department. I spent 2 weeks on the antenatal ward and all the staff could not have been more helpful, caring or professional. It made a long hospital stay bearable! I then had an elective c section, and all the staff in theatre, recovery and ward 34 were lovely - I couldn't have asked for a higher standard of care, despite the ward being very busy. I was very impressed that I was able to get home the next day to continue my recovery and get going with breastfeeding. Also the theatre staff were all great a putting me at ease (I was a little anxious to say the least). Unfortunately baby and I were readmitted 5 days later to ward 33, but again the care and help was great, despite the busy ward. Thanks again to all the staff on all the wards for the great level of care. Also, the food seems to have improved over the past 4 years - much better!

Thank you for the kind comments relating to the care you received in the Maternity Unit at the RVI. We very much appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback, especially as this will be such a busy time in your life! We are pleased to hear that your stay on the antenatal ward was positive as we understand that this can often be a very difficult and anxious time during pregnancy. We are also very pleased to hear both your birth and postnatal experiences were equally positive. All our staff endeavour to provide high standards of care to women and their babies at all times and ee are delighted that their hard work has contributed to such a positive birth experience for you and your family. Thank you once again for your feedback. This has been passed onto the team in Maternity who will be greatly encouraged by your comments.
