"The care of my father"

My father has recently passed away at this hospital. He was in ward 4 of the Dementia Unit,( not sure of the name of the ward as I live in South Wales and could only visit on occasions.) I found the ward to be the most wonderful place for people such as my father who was impossible to look after at home. My mother is 80 years of age and at her wits end as my father approached the latter stages of dementia and the very kind staff of this ward, were so very professional and couldn't have cared more if they were their own relatives. All the staff we met were friendly and on the ball as to what was happening to my father. We knew he was passing away, but without this wonderful place full of professional staff we don't know how we would have coped. We were assured and reassured as to my father's comfort, and dignity. When the end finally came which was in the middle of night, he was accompanied to the end by these caring people. It is very easy to criticise these places, to find niggles and small things that could be improved, I have no such criticism and neither has my mother or any member of my family, what on earth would we have done with this ward 4! Well done to all and thank you so much for making my father last days peaceful ones. His initials are GU.
