I contacted my doctor's surgery on Saturday to request antibiotics for my husband, who had seen his GP the previous day. I was told that they do not deal with emergencies on Saturdays and I should contact 111.
111 starts as an automated service "Press 9 to continue" which I did. "Press 9 to continue" which I did (my telephone screen confirmed that I did). "Say 'yes' to continue' which I did. "As you have made no selection this call is being terminated. " Several times.
I called our surgery and asked for an alternative number, but was told I had to go through 111. How the hell do you go through 111 if it doesn't work?
No good complaining about people misusing A&E if the out-of-hours service is faulty.
After many attempts I did get through to to 111, who were extremely efficient. Please do not respond to say how pleased you are to hear that the outcome was satifactory. That is irrelevant to ths issue.
"Trouble getting through to 111 service"
