What I liked
I was in for a Valve replacement and after coming around from surgery in the CCU became what could be only described 'as a pain in the bum' to the staff in CCU who were extremely professional in dealing with me even though, I can only blame the drugs, for my behaviour. I sincerely apologise to them as I accused them of many things which I will not repeat, so thank you to the staff of CCU. I was wheeled back into CCU in the first week in April as a problem had arisen with my operation and I was once again thankful for their assistance but this time I was not abusive as I was by then, I believe, on a smaller amount of the morphine derivative drug. My chest scars now look like a row of railway sleepers! but who cares my heart is still doing its job.
I was unlucky to spend 6 weeks all told at Papworth but all the staff, on the wards were just as caring as those in CCU. Thank you for this.
I have been on physio for six weeks and must also thank all the physio staff for their help.
What could be improved
The only comment I can make is to ask the cleaner on Mallard Ward, who by the way does a superb job, to please try not to clean when patients are on their afternoon 'siesta' as it is the only time that patients get a rest.
Anything else?
I was fortunate/unfortunate to be placed in isolation for a time in the room overlooking the duck pond and as the weather was mainly bright and sunny I watched the ducks for hours.
