"New day centre in Largs"

About: Stevenson Day Care (formerly Strand Day Services)

(as a service user),

I go to day service one day each week. The staff are excellent, they go out of their way to try and please everyone.

A couple of weeks ago we moved to a new building that can take more people, I don't know what it will be like when they double the numbers.

I've been going to the day centre for 8 years and really enjoyed it. I liked the old building, it was cosy and nice to sit out the back near the burn. It's selfish to think like that because there are a lot of people that need support so the new building is good for that. It will just take me a while to get used to the new place.

I pay £11. 50 for one day at the centre, it's quite a lot so I can't afford to go on more days. Transport and food is included. It's hard to get out, getting in and out of cars is a problem for me but there are no activities in the sheltered housing. I miss the warden, she used to organise things.

Dear Largslady,

Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts regarding Day Services in Largs. I am delighted to hear your positive comments regarding the staff in the Day Service.

Please be assured the attendance at the new Day Service will be steadily increased to minimise disruption to those who already attend, whilst also supporting other individuals to benefit from the support that this service provides.

I would like to take the opportunity to reassure you that the staff group will support you in the transition from the old unit to the new service, however if you want to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me on the number below.

Kind regards,

Mark Halpin
