About: St Peter's Hospital (Maldon)

(as the patient),

What I liked

Out patients clinic was well organised. I was seen on time waiting area was pleasant enough

What could be improved

Hygiene?

Anything else?

This was routine check organised by GP.I went as an outpatient to the eye clinic. Had drops put in - went off for 20 minutes - returned for checking of retina. All over in 10 minutes; fine very impressed . By evening had light bruising under both eyes but nothing to worry me, a day later one eye was bright red, swollen and discharging and second eye followed suit. Thinking back, I don't remember much hand washing going on by doctor and lens, equipment etc just picked up and held to my eye - presumably other patients had been inspected using it before. Very surprised to get eye infection as something I haven't had for 50 + years since junior school! Maybe a good idea to sterilise equip more thoroughly or a least better hand washing? Eye still not quite cleared. Have to say the Therapy departments on floor 2 seem much more together over these things than the eye clinic!
