About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

I transferred to RSCH very late on in my pregnancy at 38 weeks due to increasing feelings of concern and failing confidence in the hospital at which I was due to have my baby. I was seen within a week by a midwife and booked a consultant appointment the next day. I was treated with care and respect and given a range of options for my continuing care. As a result, I was finally able to relax and enjoy the last week of my pregnancy before giving birth at RSCH a week later. Care from the doctors, midwives and healthcare assistants both antenatally and postnatally was friendly, reassuring and professional at all times. The teamwork displayed was second to none, something that I imagine is difficult to get right where staff change shifts regularly. I always felt like I knew who was caring for me, what was happening and what was going to happen next. There were numerous occasions where I felt doctors or midwives went that extra mile - when they could have just ignored the issue presenting itself - to ensure that I and my baby were receiving the right care. I would particularly like to mention that I felt as though while the staff do this every day of their working lives they never came across as indifferent and seemed acutely aware that this is not something that I experience every day! The facilities and food were also great - I would highly recommend the amenity rooms if you can get one as they make sleeping in those first few nights much easier for light sleepers like me! Ultimately, I have come away from RSCH having had such a positive experience that I feel completely prepared mentally and physically for these all-important first few hard months with my new baby, something I feel absolutely certain I would not have had if I hadn't transferred my care to RSCH. I would thoroughly recommend.

We are delighted that you had such a positive experience and thank you for taking the time to write a review. This is great news and I will be sure to pass your kind words onto the maternity unit to share amongst colleagues. I hope you are enjoying motherhood and that you and the baby are thriving.
