"eye operation"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

A month ago I attended the emergency eye clinic just to be sure I was ok. They found a detached retina and immediately started treatment and arranged an operation the next day giving me a choice of local or general anaesthetic. I attended the next day and the operation was fully explained to me, I had elected local anaesthetic and was obviously awake throughout. I cannot describe how reassured I was listening to the surgeons and theatre staff as the procedure went on. In the recovery room I was given food and drink and one of the staff called my wife to come and collect me. I have been to the eye clinic twice for check ups since and I can only describe the staff right from reception through to the consultants as brilliant. As a person who has been blessed with good health all my life the fact that I had a major eye problem came as a shock and was very unnerving, without the care and professionalism of all the staff I am sure I would not have coped with it all as well as I did. I am so pleased to hear that all went well with your surgery. I am sure that the staff too will be pleased to learn about your positive experience and your comments will be fed back to them.

Kind regards
