"Waiting times in clinics"

I attended an Opthalmology Clinic appointment on Monday 1st June 2015. My appointment was for 14.50 and shortly after this I was seen by a nurse, who was efficient and administered drops to my eyes to allow the consultant to examine the eye. I was asked to sit outside a separate room from where I would be called by the consultant. The nurse did warn me that there would be "a bit of a wait" at present. I was finally called in to see the consultant at 16.45! Several people had walked out, asking for replacement appointments to be made. If too many people are booked in for a clinic, or a consultant is known to work slowly through the required number of patients, surely arrangements could be made to allow fewer patients to be booked in per clinic? Although I did not have issues, some people had car park tickets they were worried about, and one man had family issues which meant he left without being seen. Luckily I hope that was my final clinic appointment, but the wait was totally unacceptable.
