"Heart attacks/heart failure and transplant"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Cardiology Papworth Hospital

(as the patient),

I had a heart attack back in 2002 then another in 2004 leading to a triple bi pass in 2005, then in 2010 I had 17 heart attacks and nine+ resusses in an afternoon. this lead to chronic heart failure and finally heart transplant. things didn't go well for me and after 15 hours surgery was put back on life support, as the donor heart wasn't functioning as it should.

A week later another heart became available and a second transplant was performed. all went well in theatre and after 8 hours I was moved to critical care to recooperate. this was a long drawn out process as I had to learn to walk and talk again as I could hardly move at all when I came round. due to critical care myopathy.

After 3 and a half months in Papworth I was allowed home to convaless. My left leg and arm still hasn't come back to 100% functionality but who knows in time.

I am just so unconditionally grateful to all the staff at both Lincoln County hospital and Papworth for everything they have done for my family and I.
