"Inpatient stay in Ninewells"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

(as the patient),

I was recently an in-patient in Ninewells hospital, ward 15 for almost three days before being transferred to ward 42.

I would like it to be known that the nurses in ward 42 were second to none. Nothing was too much bother to them.

I would like to mention one particular nurse for high praise, namely Charlene Findlay, whose nursing care and bedside manner was fantastic. I have been in hospital quite often and I can honestly say I have never met such a dedicated and caring nurse. The hospital should be very proud to have her.

After the treatment I received in ward 15, which was the worst I have ever experienced, by not only the doctors but I'm sorry to say, most of the nurses. I can assure you ward 42 was absolute bliss except for the same uncaring doctors.

Please see that Charlene gets some kind of accolade for her dedicated nursing skills.

Many thanks and kind regards.

Response from Caroline Hiscox, Associate Nurse Director, NHS Tayside

Dear Honest815,

Thank you for getting in touch to share your experience of AMU and ward 42 in Ninewells. It is great to hear that the nurses in ward 42 were second to none and nothing was too much bother to them. I shall share your feedback with the whole team and I am sure Charlene will welcome your positive feedback. It is really valuable to receive positive feedback to let us know when we are getting care right as well as when we can improve it.

As the Associate Nurse Director for both units I am concerned that your experience was so different in AMU. I would welcome a further conversation to understand why.

If you are comfortable to contact me please get in touch through our feedback team at feedback.tayside@nhs.net or 0800 027 5507.

Kind regards,

Caroline McQuillian
