I wasn't looking forward to this procedure. My GP had advised me to have a colonoscopy but I was reluctant. I was also apprehensive because the appointment was for a Friday afternoon and I thought staff would be watching the clock. When I checked in I was treated very kindly and sent through to the day-care ward quickly, but then there was a hiccup. The doctor scheduled to do my procedure hadn't turned up and things were running late. I felt anxious thinking my colonoscopy would be cancelled and I dreaded having to go through the unpleasant preparations again. I was told there was a delay but that I would have the procedure done, phone calls were made and extra help arrived. The team who did my procedure were great. I know that the consultant had been working in another part of the hospital and I expect they had already done a full day's work, but they were thoughtful and extremely kind. They were also cheerful and made the whole thing almost enjoyable, although the Entonox may have played it's part too! Their assistant and the nurses were very good, they were completely involved with their work and made me comfortable. Altogether I found this an excellent example of NHS care. Thank you so much.
