My 89 year old mother came to York Hospital at 3:00 on Friday May 15, 2015. She had servere pain in her belly. Took 5 hours from the time she arrived to get any pain meds and an IV. Couldn't find a iV pole until after an hour when I asked if she was ever going to get her bag hung up. During that 5 hours she had wet herself and needed to be changed. Then finally she got her scan and took 2 hours to get the results. 8 hours into this they said she was packed with bowel. They said they were sending her home and to use Mirlax. I stated I was concerned about her leaving because she was on pain meds and still in pain. She wouldn't be able to walk and was still in the same pain as when we arrived. They said they would give her an enema and moved her to a room with a bathroom. So now sitting in the room again waiting for mom to be taken care of. I'm upset for my mother and my mother is upset because of her pain. I don't know what the rest of the night will bring but from this experience so far I believe we will be here all night with me having to ask repeatedly for some care. I have to admit the nurses were nice when talking with my mom. The dr didn't seem caring at all. I felt as if we were bothering the doctor by being there. On another note. To be totally fair I had to bring my daughter here on March 31 and couldn't of had better care and service. Everyone was helpful, in constant contact and took excellent care of her. I guess it depends on the day, time and who is on duty.
