"Care and kindness for my mother in law at the breast clinic"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary / General surgery

(as a relative),

I read a recent posting here about unsatisfactory care at HRI's breast clinic, and I'm obviously sorry that things did not go well for that person.

But - for 18 months or so now I've been going to this clinic with my 90-year old mother-in-law who has breast cancer, and we can say that every single member of staff we've met - consultant, SpR, breast care nurses, radiographers, clinic nurses- have treated her with great care, kindness, and courtesy.

They make sure she can see and hear them and give her time to take in what's been said to her and to formulate a reply, and they never talk over her head to me (it drives her mad when this happens!).

If we so much as stop in the hospital corridors, staff members always scamper up to us to ask if we're lost or need any help.

I've written to the staff in the past to thank them but I thought I should come on here to put another side of the story which might reassure people.
